After fierce competition and several rounds of intense review by the judges, Seattle Gummy Company was announced as the winner of the grand prize at the 2018 Seattle Innovation Cup Entrepreneurship Competition. The Seattle Innovation Cup Entrepreneurship Competition was organized by the Seattle Entrepreneurship Association.  After several initial rounds of screening, 13 finalists were invited to compete at the final competition held at the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle on November 11, 2018. Six experienced entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts served as judges, including Dr. He Yiwu, Senior Vice President of Huada Gene, Jay Westerdal, a serial entrepreneur, Javier Soto, an angel investor, Sun Zhuang, Managing Director of New Tianyu Capital, a VC investor Kate Mitselmakher, and an angel investor Mike Chen. The companies that entered the final competition covered a wide range of industrial fields, including medicine, health, information technology, transportation, security, and online business platforms.  Seattle Gummy Company (SGC) CEO, Dr. Connie Wan, presented the latest technology from SGC. Gummy Zero® products formulated with the proprietary Trulinose™ technology have attracted intense interests from investors and judges.  Explaining Gummy Zero based drug pipeline, Dr. Connie Wan used Mocca Shots®, the highest caffeine loading product on the market, to showcase the flexibility and capability of SGC’s API-complexing technology.  Noting that the caffeine in Mocca Shots™ works 3x faster because ingredients are absorbed through mouth mucosa, by-passing the normal digestive process, Dr. Connie Wan explains, “as a result, next to an IV, Mocca Shots are the fastest way to deliver caffeine directly into the blood stream.” Applying the same technology, SGC has finished formulating several OTC drug products. The company is expecting the approval of its first allergy gummy by the FDA in early 2020. After several rounds of judging and voting, SGC was crowned as the winner in the competition.  “We are very excited to be a selected as the most innovative company in the competition,” said Dr. Connie Wan, “nothing can overshadow an amazing technology like Gummy Zero, which, I believe, will have a fundamental impact on how people take and think of medicine.” The Seattle Entrepreneurship Association (Seattlestartup.org) was founded in April 2008 by a group of professionals and entrepreneurs in the Greater Seattle area.
