Seattle Gummy Company won top prize recognized as the most innovative company at 2018 Xiamen-Silicon Valley Tech Startups Competition

SEATTLE, Washington – Xiamen is one of the earliest four special economic zones established in China. Its economic openness and average growth rate have long been ranked among the largest cities in China, and World Bank chose is as a “top investment environment city”.  Open and diverse cultural heritage and unique natural conditions, Xiamen won the “International Garden City”, “United Nations Habitat Award”, “National Civilized City” and many other awards.

In order to further expand the visibility and influence of overseas and attract high-level talents to return to China for entrepreneurial development, Xiamen city government and the Xiamen National Torch Hi-tech Zone Management Committee jointly created the 2nd China (Xiamen) Overseas Business Competition, which was hosted by the Silicon Valley Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum this year.  The 2018 competition focused on the integration of various innovative and entrepreneurial resources such as policies, funds, industries, markets, and talents to make strong market competition.

Over 120 technology startups from all over the United States joined the competition. After several preliminary rounds held throughout August, the top 30 companies competed for three top prizes at the final round held in Silicon Valley on September 28th 2018.   In the final round, the companies were grouped into three technological fields: Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Blockchain, and Life Sciences, each group being judged by a panel of expert judges.

Seattle Gummy Company (SGC) CEO, Dr. Connie Wan, presented the latest technology from SGC. Gummy Zero® products formulated with the proprietary Trulinose™ technology have attracted intense interests and questions from the judges.  Explaining Gummy Zero based drug pipeline, Dr. Connie Wan used Mocca Shots®, thehighest caffeine loading product on the market, to showcase the flexibility and capability of SGC’s API-complexing technology.  Noting that the caffeine in Mocca Shots™ works 3x faster because ingredients are absorbed through mouth mucosa, by-passing the normal digestive process, Dr. Connie Wan explains, “as a result, next to an IV, Mocca Shots are the fastest way to deliver caffeine directly into the blood stream.”  Currently, SGC has finished formulating several OTC drug products. The company is expecting the approval of its first allergy gummy by FDA next year.

After tallying the scores from the judges, SGC won the first place as the most innovative company in the competition winning the maximum bonus of $10,000.  In addition, SGC qualified for the technology incentive plan by Xiamen government and has the opportunity to receive up to 10 million RMB of entrepreneurial support funds.

“We are very excited to win the top prize,” said Dr. Connie Wan, “Xiamen is one of the most innovative, open and beautiful cities in China. China market is a big part of SGC’s business planning in the coming year.  We are honored to be considered for funding under the city/s talent plan beating out all those blockchain and AI companies.   We look forward to sharing our amazing Gummy Zero technology with Chinese consumers.”
